In early trade, Sensex is trading 74.59 points or 0.09 percent higher at 81,786.35 points. Nifty was trading at 25,037.30 points, up 19.50 points or 0.08 per cent.
Today, the stock market has seen volatile trading. Both the indices had climbed in the afternoon session. The market was closing in a limited range for the last two sessions.
Today the Sensex closed at 81,785.56 points with a gain of 73.80 points. Nifty closed at 25,052.30 points, up 34.50 points. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices closed flat.
Shares of stocks
LTIMindtree, Wipro, M&M, Tata Motors, Infosys are trading with gains on Nifty. On the other hand, ONGC, Axis Bank, Shriram Finance, Divi's Labs and NTPC shares are in the red.
In the Sensex, shares of Mahindra & Mahindra, Power Grid, Tata Motors, Titan, Sun Pharma, ITC and Reliance Industries are trading with gains. At the same time, the top loser stocks include shares of Bajaj Finserv, JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Tata Consultancy Services, HCL Technologies and Maruti.
In the Nifty, shares of LTI Mindtree, Wipro, Divis Labs, IndusInd Bank and Bharti Airtel closed with gains. On the other hand, shares of Maruti Suzuki, Nestle India, Asian Paints, Adani Enterprises and Britannia Industries closed in the red.
In the Sensex, shares of Bharti Airtel, Infosys, IndusInd Bank, Sun Pharma, Tech Mahindra, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Finance and JSW Steel are the top gainers. At the same time, shares of Asian Paints, Maruti, Nestle, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Axis Bank and UltraTech Cement closed with a decline.
Global market situation
In Asian markets, Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai and Hong Kong were trading in the red. US markets closed with marginal gains on Tuesday.
According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought equities worth Rs 1,503.76 crore on Tuesday. Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) sold equities worth Rs 604.08 crore. Global oil benchmark Brent crude rose 0.14 per cent to USD 79.66 per barrel.
Rupee falls
The rupee opened at 83.94 in the interbank foreign exchange market, then declined further and reached 83.95, registering a loss of 2 paise from its previous close. On Tuesday, the rupee closed 6 paise lower at 83.93 against the US currency.
Sector status
Today, IT, pharma and healthcare sectors have gained more than 1 per cent. At the same time, the telecom index has risen by 0.5 per cent. On the other hand, the media index has fallen 1.4 per cent and FMCG and PSU banks have fallen 0.4 per cent today.
International market condition
In Asian markets, Seoul and Tokyo closed higher while Shanghai and Hong Kong closed lower. European markets were trading in positive territory. US markets closed with marginal gains on Tuesday.
