Tuesday Share market overview : Opened flat on the Tuesday , the stock market closed in a limited range.


Both the indices of the stock market are trading in a limited range today. Mixed signals from the global market have affected the stock market. In early trade, the Sensex was trading with a gain of 11 points and the Nifty with a gain of 5 points. The limited trading in the stock market has also affected the Indian currency.

Agency, New Delhi. The stock market opened in a limited range on 27 August 2024 (Tuesday). The market was expected to trade with a slight gain in the pre-open session, but as soon as the market opened, both the indices started trading flat.

Global oil benchmark Brent crude fell 0.29 per cent to USD 81.19 per barrel. According to exchange data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought equities worth Rs 483.36 crore on Monday.

Indian currency declines

The rupee opened at 83.91 in the interbank foreign exchange market, then declined further and reached 83.95, registering a loss of 8 paise from the previous close. On Monday, the Indian rupee closed the day 3 paise higher at 83.87 against the US currency.

The stock market had a volatile trading day. Both the market indices opened in a limited range and closed flat. Weak signals from the global market limited the market movement. The limited movement of the stock market has also affected the Indian currency. Today the rupee closed with a decline against the dollar.

Today, the Nifty closed at 25,017.75 points with a gain of 7.15 per cent and 0.03 per cent. The Sensex rose 13.65 points or 0.02 per cent to 81,711.76 points.

Top gainer and loser stocks

On the Sensex chart, shares of Bajaj Finserv, Maruti, Larsen & Toubro, Bajaj Finance, Infosys, Axis Bank and ICICI Bank closed with gains. At the same time, shares of Hindustan Unilever, JSW Steel, Titan, NTPC and Tata Motors closed in the red.

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought equities worth Rs 483.36 crore on Monday, according to exchange data.

Global oil benchmark Brent crude fell 0.84 per cent to USD 80.75 per barrel.

Rupee falls

The Indian currency opened at 83.91 at the interbank foreign exchange market and touched an intra-day low of 83.95 against the US dollar. The rupee eventually closed at 83.92 (provisional) against the dollar, down 5 paise from its previous close. In the previous session, i.e. on Monday, the Indian rupee closed the day higher by 3 paise at 83.87 against the US currency.
