Investors in the Indian stock market are worried about how the latest developments in the Adani-Hindenburg saga will affect the market and whether Adani Group's shares will fall like last year.

Hindenburg Research has again leveled fresh allegations against Adani Group, the Gautham Adani-led proxy port group, and this time, the US-based short seller has also roped in Sebi Chairman Madhabi Puri Buch. 

In her new investigative report, Hindenburg alleges that Buch and her husband invested in shady offshore entities used in the Adani "money siphoning scandal.

The Adani group has denied the latest allegations, calling them "malicious", "silent" and "manipulation", while SEBI chief  Madhabi Buch and her husband Dhaval Buch called them "baseless" and an assassination attempt.

In 2023, when an American short seller published the first allegations of insider trading and other stock market violations by the Adani group, claims that the Gautam Adani-led group repeatedly denied, Adani Group shares were sold off. A period that erased $100 billion from its stock market value.

However, Adani Group shares have made a comeback and the group now has a market capitalization at its pre-Hindenburg peak.

Impact on the stock market

Adani Group has 10 listed companies: Adani Ports & SEZ, Adani Enterprises, Adani Power, Adani Energy Solutions, Adani Green Energy, Adani Total Gas, Adani Wilmar, Ambuja Cements, ACC and NDTV.

“My latest Hindenburg report is not expected to have much impact on the stock market. There may be an initial reaction, but eventually the buying will come to the market,” said Sudeep Bandopadhyay, Chairman, Inditrade Capital Group.

He also does not expect the latest allegations of US-based short sellers to have a major negative impact on Adani Group shares.

These latest developments will not have any negative impact on Adani Group shares. Shares of Adani group companies will fall initially but will recover,

create confusion in the market. "I don't expect a big selloff in Adani Group shares as the market will not take the Hindenburg report seriously

The financial position of the group companies is strong and revenues are improving. So, while Adani Group shares may have fallen a bit initially, they will bounce back on the back of strong earnings.
